Getting started on Ecomotion

Without signing up, you can see our Directory (of green and ethical organisations), Search for events and organisations (with a map to show where they’re located), check the national Diary (of green events nationwide) and explore the Media Centre. Even better, after signing up, members can find out what’s going on in their own locality with a Personalised Proximity Search based on postcodes with distances from them, and note these events in their own diary (MyDiary).
You are also able to view our HUBS which are interactive platforms for organisations to; communicate with others about their efforts in terms of sustainability, connect and collaborate with other businesses and groups on projects, research and ideas, as well as giving them the tools to house their affiliates and members transparently.
Signing up to Ecomotion brings you all this and more...
PROFILES for individuals, businesses, organisations and charities so that you can connect and communicate with those that interest you, and collaborate by joining or forming GROUPS, PROJECTS and CAMPAIGNS. You can also network and connect with our HUBS using their knowledge and resources to strengthen your project.
Creating a profile allows you to add media to your profile to share with others, and submit to the MEDIA CENTRE for added exposure.
So, here’s how to get started...
- Click ‘sign up’ and tell us if you want to be included as an individual or as an organisation or company
- Complete your own profile, then look out for an email from us telling you that you’re application was successful
- As soon as your profile is confirmed, the world’s your oyster (or oyster mushroom, if you’re vegetarian).
Step by step
1. Go to www.ecomotion.org.uk; you will see:
2. Along the top the navigation bar appears below our logo – this is constant wherever you are on the site;
3. Next to that, on the right beside a ‘sign in’ link, is a ‘search’ box, where you can look for a name or a place, and also search in the different sections of the site;
4. On the left there’s another way to navigate the site: signing in, getting involved and searching in a more sophisticated way (the Search Ecomotion link); this panel changes according to where you are on the site; when you’re a member you can use shortcuts to your own profile features and to the personal environment (My Profile, My Diary, My Media Gallery, etc.)
5. All members can get our lively newsletter, so you can keep in touch with what’s going on, and non-members can receive it too, so click ‘discover more’ to see what you’re missing;
6. In the central area of the site, where it all happens, you’ll see ‘Welcome to Ecomotion’, and this is where you begin.
7. Next to that is the entry point to our Directory, a guide to hand-picked green businesses and organisations you can trust;
8. On the right, we’re asking you for feedback, to tell us what you like about the site and what you don’t;
9. Below that, we have a space for advertisements – but only from helpful, useful and responsible companies;
10. To find out about events, look at ‘what’s happening?’;
11. To see who’s online or who has been online most recently, look at ‘who’s about?’;
12. The EcoMotion Gallery shows highlights from the EcoMotion Media Centre, and gives you a link to our broadband channel, provided to us by Green TV;
13. Below the Gallery, ‘what’s new?’ brings you the latest news from the green and greener world;
14. And finally, beside that, ‘what are you guys doing?’ is the place to find out what the Ecomotion project groups are up to, so you can join in and play a vital part in the wave of change that Ecomotion is all about.
